| The late 1950's was a time of great change on our nation's railways. Steam locomotive were being replaced by diesels, so we use models of both. Passenger trains were more prevalent than now, and were operated by each carrier, not by government sponsored "VIA". In Southern Ontario, Canadian National and Canadian Pacific were the main companies, so both are represented here. Generally, the CPR tracks are the ones closest to the viewing area, while the CNR's are higher and toward the rear. |
Railways own their tracks and equipment. Over the years, each company has developed its own style: track weight & ballast, the architecture of its stations, etc., paint schemes on structures and rolling stock, all have a "company look". If you look carefully at our display, you will see this reflected in the modeling. The model railroad is divided roughly into three main themes. (See Next) |
