| The miniature world at Aberfoyle Junction has been at its current location since 1982. We did have a smaller version in the barn at the Aberfoyle Antique Market for ten years before than. Our display represents Southern Ontario in the late 1950's, with a bit of artistic and modeller's licence. Everything is modeled to a scale of ¼"=1 real foot, or 1/48th full size. In model railway terms, this is called 'O' gauge, and is roughly twice the size of the more popular "HO" gauge that most people use to model at home. | Almost all of what you see is hand built by our group or some of our friends. This includes the track, (over 20,000 crossties were cut on our table saw), locomotives, rolling stock, structures, and scenery, (yes, even the trees). Some of the models are built from commercial parts. The trains are controlled from the central tower above the viewing floor, and, at times, from a secondary location in the gallery above the lounge. | ||
